Mentor Training for the 21st Century Induction is a critical phase in the development of a teacher. The first years anchor a teacher’s sense of professionalism, the belief in the ability of all students to achieve academic growth, an understanding of the importance of collaborative practice, and a commitment to instructional and professional growth. Online Mentor Training for the 21st Century offers current information and strategies to prospective and current mentors so they can provide the highest quality support to North Carolina’s newest teachers. The module consists of five self-paced sessions, which most participants can complete the five modules in 15 hours. The culminating activity is a written summary and reflection of an observation of their beginning teacher. The training is delivered through BlackBoard. Participants will register for the module through WCU's Office of Continuing Education. Contact person is Bobby Hensley at 227-3066 or Hensley@email.wcu.edu.
